Submitted to the Kerkhoven Banner To the Editor: We can hardly be unaware of the fact of the mid-term General Elections coming up in November. This presents to the citizens of District 20A the privilege and opportunity to consider what our present leaders have stood for and accomplished. The results for DFL incumbent Andrew Falk are somewhat disappointing. We appear to be losing the Prairie Correctional Facility at Appleton. We've seen no record of support for pro-life issues, family, marriage or our moral values. Our Representative lacks legislative experience or accomplishment with his one term in office. Fortunately we have a candidate in the person of Jay Backer for State Representative, who I believe fills these qualifications very well. Jay has established and run a small business, B.W, Inc. for 20 years, meeting payrolls and making decisions that keep the business profitable. He has been loyal to Minnesota, remaining here in spite of higher taxes that could be avoided in South Dakota. Jay has been married and supported his household and family for 18 years, served 9 years on school boards and other educational support groups and volunteered with the ambulance service for 15 years. These concerns and values seem to be fit qualifications for our next State Representative for District 20A. Albin Skogstad |
